Contemporary art
At the moment there is a lovely art exhibition of Swedish contemporary art, The Gannevik Collection, at The County museum.
Mullsjö International Photo Festival 2013
As a title for this amazing photo festival I like to put the classic Swedish proverb: “Do not cross the stream for water”.
Since a couple of years there is a new fantastic photo museum in Stockholm, Fotografiska, where a lot of amazing photographers work have been exhibited. But I would like to add: since a couple of years there exist an amazing photo festival in Mullsjö, the Nordic capital of photo! So for a person like me, who lives 30 minutes by car from Mullsjö, I do not need to travel all the way to Stockholm to view world class photo! At least not in the beginning of June!
Another meaning of the above proverb is that there exist some amazing photographers in the neighborhood! For example Örjan Henriksson, Mullsjö. His exhibition show interesting photos of residents from Mullsjö, people that for some reason has caught his interest! So for this exhibition he did not walk far for the motives!
Apolonas and the third kouros
My last day on Naxos I thought to myself: “Why not go to Apolonas for lunch!”. After a few hours I was standing above Apolonas and looking at the third an most large kouros that exist in the Naxos landscape. This is unfinished and abandon at the marble quarry as the other two.
Janeric Johansson
I made a little Advent travel today with local bus and train to visit Vandalorum in order to watch a couple of interesting exhibitions. The main reason was the exhibit of Janeric Johansson‘s art. Två years ago I saw his art in my home-town, and the style and interesting thoughts behind his art fascinates me. I suggest you have a look at his website!
Johanna Koljonen

Johanna Koljonen.
This week we have a film festival in my town, Jönköping Film festival 2012. Some years I miss out, but this year I will watch five films!
Yesterday evening there was a fun event called “a rather nerdy Saturday evening”. Johanna Koljonen, a well known writer, critics, cultural journalist etcetera and with love for films did present the evening and started with a 15 minutes presentation about the early film history. Then we saw “Travel to the moon” from 1902 by Georges Méliès, France.
Then Johanna Koljonen and Johan Barrander, responsible for the biggest genre film festival in Sweden, Fantastic Film Festival, talked about what they mean with “Fantastic film” and the concept of fantasy/horror related films.
Later we saw “Elfie Hopkins” a 2012 movie by Ryan Andrews, Great Britain which can be described as a kind of horror/thriller meeting classic detective story.
An overall satisfying evening!
Sally Mann
Several interesting exhibitions at Fotografiska, among others Sally Mann: A Matter Of Time.
Inta Ruka
I listened to a cultural program on the radio the other day, and it was partly about the Latvian photographer Inta Ruka. Only last year I became aware of this interesting artist via a TV documentary! Now, a Swedish publishing house has published her first picture book “People I Know“. She is an amazing photographer, so buy the book! Are you staying in Sweden, an exhibition take place during the summer with a number of her pictures, at the Art gallery in Katerineholm.
KulturDagNatt
Nostalgia when I saw these espresso cups in a Second Hand, from a studio 100 metres away from where mom grew up.
