Apolonas harbour.
When you arrive to this little village in the north of Naxos during summer time, the taverns by the harbour is packed with people. Some of the arrives with bus, doing a tour around the island.
When arrived 13 of April, I started to hesitate if any of the taverns was open. No one of them seem to be ready for guests. Anyway, the last one in the bay was open, Captain Michalis café, and I could have a lovely Greek salad, looking at the calm water of the small harbour.

My last day on Naxos I thought to myself: ”Why not go to Apolonas for lunch!”. After a few hours I was standing above Apolonas and looking at the third an most large kouros that exist in the Naxos landscape. This is unfinished and abandon at the marble quarry as the other two.

The first day with my rented scooter, I started a little late. Well, I guess that Mike at Mike’s Bikes & Cars did not expect any customers at 10 of April. I have to wait for him outside his shop, while he was at the bank office . And I was not the only one. Three cute French girls also wanted a vehicle!
As the faithful reader maybe remember, I first went to Chalki for lunch. As a result I arrived to my ”first” beach as late as 5 P.M. Glifada is a lovely beach indeed, but my intention to work on my tan had no effect what’s so ever! I was almost freezing by the somewhat chilling wind. But maybe I shall look upon this with positive eyes; I did not burn myself; a white guy who just arrived from the Swedish winter!
Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday I dared to go skiing, despite the fact that there were lack of snow on some fields. But overall it was a lovely nature experience!

Some weeks ago I didn’t expect that I was going to ski 16 of March, a sunny day with 4 degrees Celsius! Thanks to the existence of crusted snow under a thin layer of loose snow it was possible to ski, even if some of the passages had no snow at all! It was indeed a lovely nature experience!

It’s light and sunny at the moment so I just to had to get some fresh air in the nearby nature. Just a week ago I was able to go skiing, but this last week the sun has worked hard to defeat the remaining snow!

I had to work a couple of hours previous Sunday, but in the afternoon I was able to ski in the wonderful nature, before it got dark.

After a dull week of rain, it was amazing to watch the winter coming back again!
The possibility to go skiing this winter season has been limited, where I live. But since a week or so I can ski in the nearby nature!
Winter landscape that I love to visit.
After skiing for some kilometres I said to myself, or rather sang: ”What a feeling”. Yes, the old tune from the popular movie/TV-series Flashdance with Irene Cara came into my mind. Well, I was happy to discover that it was working very well to go skiing in the nearby landscape, starting just outside my door, just as I like it to be! The two last weeks has changed the winter dramatically to the better. What’s the point with cold weather without snow? Yes, I probably sound like a child, but I don’t mind in this matter!
